Replacement of an old glass fuse panel can come in two ways: Retro kit or a complete load centre removal and reinstall. The retro kit is the most common choice in older units, owing to the method of the original construction and thus the retro kit is the easiest, cleanest and most economical choice for an apartment dwelling.

The original electrical box enclosure remains along with all top/bottom Emt conduit fields. Also a big advantage is that the surrounding walls remain undamaged. Complete load centre replacement involves removal of the original box enclosure with some damage to the walls around the panel.
